The SIEGENIA GROUP underscores its commitment to helping those in need
Tradition of donating continues with 22 000 euros for regional institutions
The SIEGENIA GROUP has been supporting people in difficult life situations for many years and therefore refrains from sending out Christmas presents to its partners amongst other things. The amount set for this purpose benefits charitable causes instead. The company is particularly keen to support local organisations based near its German sites. As a result, the company embraces its responsibility toward the regions that have always been a source of its strength. With a donation amount totalling 22 000 euros SIEGENIA is continuing the Christmas donations tradition this year.
Nine regional organisations supported
SIEGENIA is particularly passionate about helping people experiencing hardship by donating to local food banks so that they don't have to suffer hunger. The Siegen Food Bank (Siegener Tafel) will receive 3 500 euros to allow it to distribute free food, while the Hermeskeil Food Bank (Tafel Hermeskeil e.V.) and the Velbert Food Bank (Velberter Tafel), run by the Niederberg parish charitable organisation Diakonisches Werk, will each get a Christmas donation of 2 500 euros.
SIEGENIA has also chosen six other local causes to support. The Balthasar Children's and Young Adults' Hospice in Olpe is being supported again. There the amount totalling 3 500 euros contributes to the care for terminally ill children, adolescents and young adults and to assist and support their family members. In addition, the Louise von Marillac MARIEN Hospice in Wilnsdorf, which has eight inpatient places, will receive 3 000 euros. The institution has dedicated itself to easing the burden on those who are critically or terminally ill and their loved ones and to providing them both psycho-social and practical support. The Siegerland Evangelical Hospice with its inpatient facility and an outpatient hospice service has also set itself the goal of making the last phase of people's lives worth living. The Förderverein Hospiz Siegerland e. V. will receive a donation from SIEGENIA in the amount of 2 000 euros for this purpose.
SIEGENIA is providing 1 500 euros for the day care centre at the Caritas Hermitage Centre in Siegen. In existence since 1993 the day care house has 27 day patient places and provides relief for family caregivers and support of family members or friends. The DRK-Kinderklinik Siegen GmbH will receive 2 000 euros for the merger of both Children's Islands which serve as intensive care units with residential character for the treatment and care of children and young people on long-term ventilation. The Siegen-Wittgenstein Alzheimer Society can rejoice as well. It will receive a donation in the amount of 1 500 euros. The amount is supposed to be used to help provide people with dementia and their family caregivers to enjoy a good life despite the disease and to promote public understanding of dementia affections like Alzheimer's disease.
