SIEGENIA opens new production hall
Strengthening of the site marked by the commitment to innovation
At the SIEGENIA site in Hermeskeil the production of thresholds made of glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) for the COMFORT UNIT can pick up speed: Exactly twelve months after laying the foundation stone the company opened the new production hall with an inauguration for the employees on December 11th. Wieland Frank, Managing Partner of SIEGENIA, greeted the guests at the start of the ceremony. He provided the symbolic climax of the event with the subsequent festive cutting of the ribbon and officially opened the new hall. An invitation to a rustic buffet rounded off the event.
"The new production hall underscores the significance of the PORTAL product group and of the Hermeskeil site for SIEGENIA. As an investment amounting to millions it's a sign of our unwavering commitment to innovation and serves the consistent development of premium solutions for lift and slide elements. The goal is to accommodate the persistently good demand for PORTAL elements and SIEGENIA's room comfort solutions and to mark another milestone for the future of our plant as a result", explains Uwe Ziewers, PORTAL Plant Manager. "This will also allow us to fulfil our responsibilities as a major employer in the region. The increase in demand that we're striving for enables us to safeguard existing jobs and create new ones."
Consistent expansion of the GRP portfolio to provide the full range
At 1 000 qm floor space the new production hall provides SIEGENIA with the best conditions for doing justice to the increasing demand for capacity to produce room comfort solutions for sliding systems. From the precision cut to the connection bore the new thresholds made of glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) are prepared there for the COMFORT UNIT service package. The already existing programme of threshold variants will be added to by variants made of GRP thresholds as well. A total of six new GRP thresholds should be available as early as in the first quarter of 2026. Suitable for the requirements of modern architecture this also includes the possibility of realising the thresholds in on-trend black. An even wider range of thresholds for lift and slide elements is available for fabricators as a result. It's envisaged to provide as an option all ECO PASS thresholds in a GRP version by as early as the end of 2026.
Efficient production processes – well thought out overall plan
Placing the hall on the plant grounds in Hermeskeil was done for the purpose of a harmonious integration into existing production sequences. In addition to the GRP thresholds the motorised drive DRIVE axxent LS will also be produced in the new hall. "That way it can be optimally integrated into existing processes", Uwe Ziewers recounts. The completely concealed drive is the perfect solution for high-end residential and commercial construction projects, combining lift and slide elements, ease of use, design and accessibility. It's expected to contribute to strengthening the product portfolio and the site in the coming years. With the construction of the new production hall the periphery of the site is also being enhanced: As part of the project the outdoor installations were redesigned and adapted for future requirements.
Continuous improvement and expansion
Since 2011, SIEGENIA has focused on the development and production of hardware and thresholds for sliding doors at its Hermeskeil site. Over the past 13 years, the company has consistently improved and expanded its production facilities there. The introduction of the COMFORT UNIT in 2013, a completely new service at the time, has been an important factor in the site's successful development among other things. It allows window producers to purchase all the components needed to fulfil an order, all in a perfectly fitting single package. This provides window fitters with optimisations in work preparation and production processing.
