Action for the forest habitat
Apprentices from SIEGENIA support afforestation
The apprentices from SIEGENIA are campaigning for nature and environmental protection: together with a local heritage and rambling club and the head of training, Nina Herter, they carried out an afforestation project at the end of March with a lot of fun and commitment. In the immediate vicinity of Rothaarsteig, an approximately 160-km long-distance hiking trail in the home region of SIEGENIA, 10 apprentices helped with the planting of a forest area with more than 1,100 saplings and they took measures to protect their growth from grazing by wild animals.
Financed by donations
The project obtained financial support from donations received from the SIEGENIA Sport Challenge that took place last autumn. At the invitation of their company, employees from all over the world completed more than 11,000 kilometres for the project, either on foot or by bicycle. Wieland Frank, managing partner of SIEGENIA, honoured their contribution to climate protection by donating one Euro for every kilometre covered to support sustainability projects.
Young people for climate protection
SIEGENIA also wants to actively drive the topic of sustainability forward within the scope of their training. The afforestation project is part of this. The apprentices will be qualified as sustainability scouts and integrate this topic in their respective working areas within the scope of this project. SIEGENIA wants to promote the sensitisation to climate protection as well as to promote the individual ideas of the apprentices with regard to a more sustainable way of life both in their private and professional lives.
