Species-appropriate habitat for bees underlines sustainability concept

Around 140,000 bees have been occupied recently at the headquarters of the SIEGENIA GROUP in Niederdielfen: they have been collecting flower nectar from morning to evening from a lean meadow that has been established for this purpose with a mix of seeds suitable for the region, but also within a radius of several kilometres, from which they produce honey. SIEGENIA is underlining its sustainability concept with the establishment of a species-appropriate habitat and the settlement of the two bee colonies that now call two three-tiered beehives their home.

The bees have readily accepted their new home thanks to the good preparation. To achieve this objective, Marcel Krombach, Head of Facility Management at SIEGENIA, cooperated with the Beekeepers' Association Wilnsdorf in advance to determine the planning and conducted mutual talks about the sustainability project. Marcel Krombach is absolutely satisfied with the result: „In fact, our plan to establish a direct and clearly visible sign of the future increasingly sustainable orientation of the SIEGENIA GROUP at the Niederdielfin site has been completely successful. We are very happy that this has been achieved without any problems."

Our own honey as a present to customers

The customers of SIEGENIA will also benefit from the sustainability concept of the project: the company is expecting the first harvest of honey soon. Small jars filled with the honey will then be presented as a tasty present.

The process that is so successful in Niederdielfen will be extended to the further SIEGENIA sites in the future. The starting signal for the next bee meadows is expected to be fired next year.
