New training centre opened

SIEGENIA sets an example for the promotion of young talent at the Velbert site

SIEGENIA declares its commitment with an investment in the future-focused training of new junior staff at the Velbert site: With the keynote "The Future Unfolds Here" the company opened its new training centre at the KFV plant last Tuesday. In addition to Christian Dräger, Head of the Office of Public Order of the City of Velbert, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chamber of Handicrafts, employment agency and trade school representatives as well as partners from the region took advantage of the opening celebration to get a personal impression of the new premises. With the new training centre SIEGENIA is underscoring its commitment to young professionals. "Our aim is to provide the trainees with a place of their own in a highly modern environment where they can test themselves, discover their strengths and unfold personally and professionally", explains Nina Herter, Head of Personnel Development and Training at SIEGENIA.

Festive ribbon cutting ceremony

After a warm welcome Nico Kimmeskamp, trainer and initiator of the project, started with a presentation of the concept and the background of the new training centre. Wieland Frank, Executive Partner of SIEGENIA, acknowledged in his address the special commitment of Nico Kimmeskamp and emphasised the key importance of qualified professional training for the future viability of the family-held firm. He provided the symbolic climax of the event with the subsequent festive cutting of the ribbon. This symbolic action was accompanied by the production of the two first official pieces of work, a CNC milling and a 3D printing. Following this was a guided workshop tour where the guests could experience live what future-focused training at the KFV plant means. The trainees played an active role in the course of this as guides and moderators and enthusiastically presented the technical equipment and their own first projects. The opening celebration was rounded off by a casual get-together with finger food, which provided space for personal conversations.

Combination of classic craftsmanship and digital technologies

At more than 70 square metres the new training centre provides a modern mix of craftsmanship and digital technologies. Classic turning and milling machines as well as fully equipped manual workstations can be found there too, like CNC milling machines, an autocut band saw, pneumatic and e-pneumatic training stations or 3D printing technology. "That way our trainees get the opportunity to experience the entire process from the idea through the planning right up to the implementation – practically relevant and directed toward the future. Concretely, the training centre provides a learning environment where more than technological competence and creativity are promoted. In fact, it reflects our conviction that training requires not just the dissemination of knowledge, but also space for development, interaction and self-reliance", Nico Kimmeskamp points out.
