At this point we would like to keep you momentarily informed about the current situation at SIEGENIA with regard to Covid-19.
The actions we have taken to secure the production and delivery chain are keeping these processes trouble-free at the moment, meaning that we continue to be capable of delivery. Our employees, who are not engaged in production, are now mostly working in home office, from where they carry out their tasks. Our complete sales team is available from home office to provide advice and assistance to our customers in order to provide the best possible support for their acting ability.
Due to the greatest possible restricted social contact, the field service, as well as selected connected divisions are performing their tasks during reduced working hours. The respective organisation of this short-time work covers a comprehensive availability, meaning that all contact partners are still fully available for our customers.
We will continue to observe the situation, adapt our action plan in case of requirement and keep you informed and up-to-date.
Status of 19.03.2020:
you will surely have been watching how the situation in connection with the coronavirus is developing in Germany, Europe and the rest of the world and how dynamically the governments decide on measures to contain and combat it. There is no doubt that this is a new, unprecedented challenge, the short, medium and long-term consequences of which are not yet in sight.
For us, the focus is on the health of everyone, the protection of our employees and their relatives as well as the effort to support our business partners in the best possible way in maintaining their business. All of our measures are subordinate to this and so we are continuously making precise assessments of the situation and are adjusting our measures and processes daily.
We appreciate your trust in us as your partner and would like to ensure with the following measures that our company keeps up to date in taking into account all possible protective measures for our employees, suppliers and customers and to carry on being able to deliver for you:
Securing the supply chain
We are in close contact with our suppliers regarding potential delivery bottlenecks. If it becomes apparent that there will be difficulties here, we will inform you proactively. Regarding our suppliers in China, the situation is easing and deliveries to us are underway again. Production losses in Europe are currently unknown. In addition to our suppliers’ and logistics partners’ own pandemic/emergency plans, adapted procedural instructions and procedures for plant access by suppliers and external companies also help to minimise the risk.
Accessibility and communication channels
In order to keep the risk of infection as low as possible, we have imposed extensive travel restrictions. Here we follow and adhere strictly to the public authority guidelines and instructions. In general, our employees are encouraged to keep internal group meetings as small as possible and to use web conferences. The same applies to appointments with business partners, which are being subject to more stringent scrutiny during these times. Adaptation of the IT infrastructure, mobile office models and the increased use of digital meetings ensure that we are still fully contactable.
Risk avoidance in the workforce
Our concern is always to ensure the safety of our employees. That is why we have tightened up our hygiene measures throughout the company, shortened cleaning cycles and also issued disinfectants. In addition, the employees who have continued to work at our sites have been adequately separated from one another and the break areas have been redesigned according to the safety distances recommended by the Robert Koch Institute. Staggering of break times and working hours should also minimise the risk of infection. For those returning from vacation in high-risk areas, we have checked that a strict quarantine period at home is being followed.
In our own production team, we are prepared for possible staff absences and can react flexibly by adapting our shift patterns to compensate for any staff shortages. Emergency plans have also been prepared for the Management and IT department. The systems can be controlled locally.
